Any experience with Beverage Air MT27? I am looking at one and the ad says it “needs charged.” What should I look for as a red flag and, besides a leak, why does a system “lose charge?”

Found one locally and it’s perfect for what I need. 325 and the compressor runs, but doesn’t get cold. Is it worth it? I am happy to have a technician come and charge it up or fix it, I just wonder how much it might end up costing and what I should look for. I’m a commercial/residential electrician active over in the electricians forum with a degree in electrical engineering technology. I couldn’t find any great answers about why a system “loses charge” so I thought I would ask here. Thanks for any help!
