CANADA: Vince Canino has been made president and CEO of the Smardt Chiller Group, replacing founder Roger Richmond-Smith, who remains as chairman.
The promotion of Canino, who has been COO since 2014, marks an expansion of the leadership team by the Canadian oil-free centrifugal chiller manufacturer.
Canino’s previous career includes senior VP roles with Trane, the chief executive role at the DG Energy cogeneration group and many years with GE Power Systems.
His role as COO is taken by Ashraf Abdalla, formerly Johnson Controls VP and general manager, global HVAC applied commercial business. He will initially focus on North American opportunities.
In addition to his role as chairman, Roger Richmond-Smith, Smardt, will take on project responsibilities for Europe, new product development and strategic marketing.
