Hey guys I got a question, R22 aint cheap these days and I was looking at R417A as a retrofit.
Thing is is that the head pressure is super low on R417A. On a 70 F outdoor ambient day your probably looking at a 170 psig condensing pressure. This is for a medium temp application where I'll be running a 20 F evap at around 30 psig for 417A.
Can an R22 valve function well with that kind of head pressure being so low? The suction pressure will be lower compared to R22 but these valves were designed for R22 pressures. I'm thinking maybe a headmaster or some kind of fan cycling would be needed with the retrofit.
