Steve Gill wins diversity award

UK: Former IoR president Steve Gill was recognised for his efforts to encourage diversity across the HVACR sector, picking up the Diversity Impact Award at tonight’s H&V News Awards.

Gill encouraged the creation of the Women in RACHP group during his Institute presidency and continues to serve on its steering committee. This educational and networking group strives to promote the role of women in the industry, developing their careers and encouraging new entrants.

He was also behind this year’s first Dyslexia in Engineering Day which seeks to raise awareness of the challenges and potential of those in the HVACR industry with dyslexia.

Daikin’s reclaimed refrigerant scheme, which was recently extended to all of its new VRV systems manufactured and sold across Europe, was recognised with the Low Carbon Achievement Award.

Carrier’s AquaEdge 19DV water-cooled centrifugal chiller continues to rack up the awards. This time the HFO chiller received the Commercial HVAC Product of the Year.

Domestic HVAC Product of the Year was awarded to LG for its Therma V R32 heat pump, while Mitsubishi Electric’s R32 City Multi YNW VRF picked up the HVAC Initiative of the Year Award.

An AET Flexible Space underfloor air conditioning installation, which contributed to eight floors of energy efficient office space at 24 St James’s Square, London, caught the attention of the judges for the Retrofit Project of the Year.
