USA: Sustainable cooling groups recognise that the Covid-19 global immunisation effort will offer a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create sustainable and resilient health cold-chain systems around the world.
To tackle this subject, the Kigali Cooling Efficiency Program (K-CEP) is to host a discussion on the challenges and opportunities of ensuring a sustainable cold chain for equitable Covid-19 vaccine distribution in a webinar next month.
While news of Covid-19 vaccines progress has raised hope around the world, the success of Covid-19 immunisation and equitable distribution will depend on delivering quality vaccines to every community, village, and settlement. This means that cold chains around the world may need to be expanded rapidly, and across developing countries, completely new cold chain systems may need to be built. K-CEP says that getting this wrong threatens the most vulnerable communities and poses great risks to the climate.
The webinar is being held on December 9, 2020 (08:00-09:30 PST, 16:00-17:30 GMT, 21:30-23:00 IST).
