help!

idk if this is the right place to ask this, if not guide me please.

so i was cleaning my new top mount refrigerator and noticed polystyrene in the vent of the fridge and thought that i might had missed it when throwing away the box and stuff. i started breaking it and noticed that.... maybe it is suppose to go there??? did i F up??

i'm scared now...
