Ive been using a camping 12v compressor fridge/freezer in my shed running fine for a year or so. Recently I noticed it was reporting temp's above what I had set (I use it as freezer set to -4C, but its started drifting up to 4C). I also noticed a build up of ice thick even though it reports 4 degrees above freezing (so you would expect everything to have thawed). So I thought it was time for a defrost/clean.
I totally forgot the whole 'dont tip your fridge sideways, or otherwise let it settle'. I only tipped it momentarily to empty out the water and plugged it back in about 15mins later. Since plugging it back in its no longer cooling at all. Fan works, compressor faintly vibrates, no error code on the display.
Ive bypassed the thermostat (C-T) to force it always on. Still nothing. Ive unplugged fan in case it was failed/drawing too much. Nothing.
I think it may be the compressor. Possibly the controller, but meh the replacement price for either is about same as whole new unit. So is it dead? If it was me tipping it over and not letting it settle, is there anything I can do to reverse/fix this?
How do you know your compressor is gone?
Thanks!
