For the Chiller Engineers, BPHE Sizing

Hey guys anyone care to explain how to properly size brazed plate heat exchangers (BPHE) for a chiller?

I finished putting together a chiller with a Sanyo Scroll compressor 10 HP 104,000 BTU/HR @ 45 F/ 7.5 C.
I copied the configuration from another chiller that had a Copeland Scroll ZR125KC.
I saw that they used a 10 TR expansion valve and a Danfoss BPHE.

I told a representative for a local shop that I needed a heat exchanger to replace the Danfoss one since I couldn't find the same model. He gave me a "KAORI" saying this matches up and will work fine. I took his word for it and everything went okay using R417A as an R22 substitute.

My question is why? What am I looking for when sizing BPHE's to the system capacity?
I'm assuming surface area m2, number of plates and dimensions have something to do with sizing to capacity.

My current configuration for a chiller I built is a KAORI R095M-60, Emerson HFES10HC TXV, SANYO 10 HP CSC-753 104,000 BTU/HR.
I don't know if the BPHE is oversized since compressor capacity is 8 TR and the expansion valve is 10TR but then again I'm sure there is a significant pressure drop across the BPHE that calls for upsizing.
All I know is that it works lol
