10 x 15 x 8 feet Walk in cooler - what size compressor do I need?

Hi there,

I am trying to figure out what size compressor I need for my new 15 x 10 x 8 feet walk in cooler. Got a couple quotes, some people included a 1 HP compressor and others a 2 HP compressor.

Here is the setup:

• 4 inch panels
• Concrete floor
• Sliding door big enough for skids to to roll in and out (approx 5 ft wide)
• Compressor sits on top of the cooler, lots of clearing space (+- 20 feet from to to cooler to roof)
• Temperature in the warehouse ranges from 59 to 77 farenheit
• Cooler will be used for produce, target temperature inside is +- 35 farentheit

What would you recommend going with in this case? 1HP or 2? what are benefits / issues either option ? Would there be a meaning-full difference in electricity usage? maintenance difference etc?

Would truly appreciate your thoughts. I am new to the world of walk in coolers, and its a big investment for us so want to make sure we get the right setup.
