A-Gas Italia established

Laboratory supervisor Jolanda Gianella and A-Gas operations director Rob Parker mark the official launch of A-Gas Italia with the cutting of a special cake

ITALY: A-Gas has completed the acquisition of the reclamation business of Italian company Safety Hi-Tech, creating A-Gas Italia.

Completion of the deal, which was first announced in November, sees the creation of A-Gas Italia based in Avezzano, approximately 100km east of Rome. It allows A-Gas to extend its refrigerant recovery and reclamation services into Italy and southern Europe.

“Launching A-Gas Italia is a great opportunity for us to expand further afield and to use our expertise and proven track record in the wider refrigerants market,” said MD of A-Gas in Europe John Ormerod.

A-Gas says it will integrate the existing workforce into the business as part of the transaction and will be looking to grow and continue to invest in the site and region of Abruzzo.

This is the sixth acquisition by A-Gas since the investment by Private Equity firm KKR in mid-2017. That year A-Gas bought the Netherlands-based reclamation business, BTC, followed in 2018 by Arthur Friedrichs Kältemittel – now A-Gas Deutschland – a leading German supplier of refrigerants to the European automotive sector. In 2019, the acquisition of Singapore based, VEMAC Services, established A-Gas as a market leader in the recovery, reclamation and sales of refrigerants in south east Asia.

The company also acquired USA-based refrigerant reclamation specialist Diversified Pure Chem in 2017 as part of its wider global growth plan, as well as Californian-based H3R Clean Agents earlier this year.
