SWEDEN: Wholesaler Beijer Ref has reported its strongest quarter to date with net sales increasing by 36.6% to SEK4,561m (€446m).
Figures for the second quarter, published today, reveal an EBITA of SEK431m (€42m), with operating profit rising 73.5% to SEK418m (€41m).
Cumulative figures show a 21.6% net sales improvement for the first half of the year, amounting to SEK8,292m (€812m).
In his last Beijer Ref financial report as CEO, Per Bertland welcomed the latest figures in the light of the gradual world recovery from the pandemic. “In these circumstances, it feels good to report our strongest quarter to date, in terms of both sales and profit,” he said. “It is positive that large markets such as the Netherlands, France and Italy have performed well.”
Bertland promised continued investment in online sales, with e-commerce accounting for 10% of sales in the second quarter, compared to 6% last year.
Beijer Ref’s new CEO, Christopher Norbye, takes over on August 30.
