Can an interior walk-in condensing unit be converter for exterior use?

I have an interior condensing unit for a walk-in box. It’s a Tecumseh 2.25hp unit.

I want to install the unit outside. A contractor said he can build an enclosure and install it outside. I would hate to do this and damage my unit this requiring a new one and another installation cost.

Another contractor said I need to buy an outdoor unit.

Is it possible to convert the unit for outdoor use?
