Cleaning between the glass and frame? (Samsung RF28T5001SR)

I have a Samsung RF28T5001SR with some gunk between the glass and frame. I tried following the instructions on the website, but for me the tabs I was told to press in are very stiff. I reached out to customer support, but was told that I needed a service call that would cost $350 because my warranty ended. Does anyone else have this issue?
