Freon Leak? Wife says she smells a nail-polish like smell when opening the fridge. We have a newborn in a very small place. Should we be moving to a hotel?

We have several large cracks on the inside wall of the freezer. The fridge was not keeping cool very well, so we've set it to the coldest setting and that seems fine. We have a new fridge on order arriving tomorrow. But just today, my wife says she smells a chemical odor from the fridge, similar to nail-polish. I don't smell it myself.

Seems to me this could be freon leaking? No oil anywhere on the ground. Given that we have a newborn and the place is very small, should we stay in a hotel until the new fridge arrives tomorrow?
