Fridge/freezer not staying cold on top shelves. HELP

We just purchased our first home and moved in a few days ago. The fridge was unplugged when we moved in. We plugged it in and it seemed to do its job well. My mom came out to help up with the moving and wanted ice for her drinks. She turned on the water valve to start making ice but apparently forgot to turn it off? It created a huge chunk of ice as seen in the picture. We chipped at it for a while but couldn't get much off. Now, the refrigerator and freezer top shelves aren't staying cold. . Could this leftover chunk of ice be the cause? I cant get it off but we also don't want to have to replace the fridge already.
