Got an ad for a good deal on an Insignia NS-BC130GP1 and I’ve been looking for a drink fridge for a while. Drove out for 30 or so minutes, unwrap it, and decide to look through the instructions while the 24 hour “sit and wait” period completes.
Lo and behold, I see a line in the instructions:
“Do not use in inset/cabinet configurations, this is meant to be a freestanding fridge. Do not use outdoors/in garages.”
Well, I was hoping to do one of the two of those things (garage at first, then eventually move it somewhere in the kitchen in a few months). What is the reasoning for this line of “do not use in garages”? Going off of my very limited heat transfer and electronics knowledge, I assume it has something to do with the temperature sensors (and potentially winters being very harsh on the coolant)… looking for some more qualified knowledge & opinions. Should I return this fridge now rather than plug it in/fill it up?
If it helps, the garage averages low of 50 and high of 87.5 around the year. Plant hardiness zone 10a, if that helps :)
