Sourcing Parts Question

<<<~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~>>>

Does anyone have the current story on sourcing parts for older commercial refrigerators?

My guy tells me that it is only about a thousand dollar difference ( + $1000) to replace both my evaporator coil and condensing unit and switch over to a newer refrigerant. Owing to the fact that a replacement compressor was at least 4 months lead time on sourcing, up front.

i could understand the supply chain for items like this to be disrupted during the height of the pandemic but it is 2023. Ships are sailing all over the place again.

Does anyone have input on this? My guy acted like I am looking for a pair of original wheels off a 1932 duesenberg. I mean, come on. It's a screw compressor, old technology, probably millions of copies out there somewhere.

I promise you, because I saw it with my own eyes, there are refrigerators at least 40 years old humming away right now in SE Asia. And the people there have used so many alternative parts that it looks like a frankenstein when you walk behind it. Lol. But it's cooling right this moment.

Thanks.
