For some context, my business owns several thousand fridges of which we maintain on behalf of our customers. For many years we have outsourced all refrigeration repairs to a third party which has involved removing equipment to our facility, arranging of its collection, repair, return to us and then delivery and installation to our sites. Needless to say this is a labour intensive process and very uneconomical in all terms.
So I have had the idea of repairing the machines insitu therefore circumventing all of the logics involved. I'm wondering if anyone can help in terms of giving advice as to how I set this up. So far I have:
- taken and passed f-gas 2079 city and guilds. -aware of our requirement to get on refcom/f gas register. As an individual this should be ok as I am servicing our own equipment, not others. -aware of registering with environmental agency re collecting and disposing of recovered refrigerant. -having to purchase all associated equipment for recovery repair and charging etc. -able to have further training from an experienced refrigeration engineer.
Is there anything I am missing out on here? Is it as simple as this? I'd like to know people's thoughts before I make the investment incase there's some unseen hurdles here! Appreciate any advice here.
