My evaporator fan motor never turns off even when contact 4 opens. It does slow down a bit when the contact opens. So I'm positive that even though contact 4 is open, that power is still coming through the compressor from L2 RED and going back on L1 BLACK. Then, the evaporator fan motor is still getting powered. The reason it slows down is because there is resistance in the compressor windings.
The teacher told me I could wire it in a way that the evaporator fan motor turns off completely when defrost is on with only the equipment I have. But I'm positive the only way to do that is with a relay or contactor and they won't give me one.
Could someome please tell me if I am right or wrong?
