GERMANY: This week’s first virtual Chillventa exhibition attracted more than 6,800 participants according to the organiser.
Although accepting that the three-day Chillventa eSpecial was “not a real substitute” for a physical on-site event, Petra Wolf of the organiser NürnbergMesse’s management board declared the eSpecial a success.
With 4,000 similar events cancelled or postponed worldwide since March and the onset of the coronavirus in Europe, Chillventa 2020 faced an inevitable shutdown.
The decision to try and recreate the event online as the Chillventa eSpecial with its attendant Chillventa Congress conference programme was a brave one and had to be organised in a very short space of time. The fact that the online event included 30 presentations at the Chillventa Congress, 75 product presentations and over 300 roundtables was impressive given the circumstances.
However, the 207 exhibitors and 6,800 recorded active participants were both around 80% down in comparison to both the exhibitor and visitor number of the last live Chillventa in 2018.
The organiser NürnbergMesse now has preparations underway for the European Heat Pump Summit from 26 and 27 October next year and the next Chillventa scheduled for 11 to 13 October 2022.
