Hey everyone, I recently bought a used mini fridge (magic chef MCBR445B1) and I use it to hold all my adult beverages. Currently the top shelf has bottles corona, the middle shelf has 3 bottles of wine, the bottom shelf has my wife's seltzers in a can, and the door has mixers.
I have a temp setting from 0-7 and the instructions I found online is 1 warmest and 7 coldest. My wife turned it on and set the dial to 4, the next day the open bottle of wine was half frozen and all of my coronas we're completely solid so I turned the dial down to 1. It's been 2 days now and the coronas are still solid, as is the bottle of wine and the mixers. The cans on the bottom shelf seem to be fine. Do I have a thermostat issues or did I not wait long enough? The instruction manual said 3 is perfect for everyday cooling so I'm slightly concerned that a 4 froze all my beer overnight.
I'm doing additional troubleshooting right now but it seemed like when I turned the dial to zero, the compressor remained on. I have since unplugged the unit for 2 minutes, switched to zero and then plugged in.
What can I test? Should i thaw everything and start over? I paid $50 for this and a new thermostat is $40 plus $50 in shipping. Thank you in advance for your response!
TLDR: mini fridge freezes beer and wine regardless of setting.
