What brand/model residential refrigerator would you recommend?

Dear friends. We sold a perfectly fine Maytag that was well loved, but it was time to redo our dated kitchen. We bought an LG fridge 2 years ago (the whole suite, actually), and there is a design flaw with the evaporation fan. It’s the one that lights up when you knock on the glass in the door. It requires full manual defrosting every 90-ish days. Taking all of the food out, putting it in coolers with ice and waiting 24 hours for it to completely defrost, starting it up again, wiping everything off and putting it back. It’s exhausting. Lg just sent us a check to replace it - they don’t even want it back. So, it’ll go into the garage and keep extra drinks cold.

Went to CNET and Consumer Reports, but it would appear that their favor has been bought. The contradictions in reviews from a number of sites that claim integrity in providing analysis and review are frustrating and ultimately inconclusive. SMH - I just need a fridge that will last.

So, Reddit, what kind of a fridge do you recommend? We know to avoid Samsung, and are definitely gun shy about LG. *Also, we cannot economically do a built-in for this house.

Thanks in advance! Chills to you all!
